A Bit About Me
I’m a writer of fiction, for children as well as adults, and I also occasionally write non-fiction. I’m also an audiobook narrator, and I do some commercial voice-over work, too. So as you’d expect, I’m pretty busy most of the time, which is just the way that I like it.
Just like chips ‘n’ gravy, I am Yorkshire to the core. My whole being is fundamentally rooted in the north of England, and having an ancestry traced back to Shakespearian times confirms me as a genuine northern lad. No surprise then that my writing reflects my typically Yorkshire character. Gritty, phlegmatic, dour are all valid adjectives that have been used to describe me. But despite my dour exterior I am, and my writing is, full of wry humour.
I love doing audio book narration. I have quite a deep northern voice, very similar to the actor Sean Bean. This is no great surprise, as we grew up within half a mile of each other, though he’s a bit younger than I am, so we were never acquainted as youngsters.
