He said that, while he never doubted my intention to be a writer, he had looked upon me actually doing so in the same way as he would if I had said that I intended becoming a rocket scientist. That he would have offered the same support and encouragement, but would believe it only when he saw the actual rocket streaking up into the atmosphere.
I don’t want to seem to be ‘teaching grandmother to suck eggs’, but as a new writer, I have found that creating a synopsis is not as easy as one would think. In fact, I have just discovered that it is by far the most difficult part of the submission package. Unfortunately, as far as I am aware, there’s no easy answer. You just have to do it!
Don’t turn a blind eye to proofreading.
There’s no point in being a writer, and then pretending not to be. Have the confidence to say to people who ask, that you are, what you are, a writer. That’s what you do, isn’t it?
Even the literary Titan, George Orwell, worked hard at his writing, often making several revisions to unsatisfactory work.
