I have a deep-rooted passion for northern based literature. Almost all my writing is focused upon the North of England, particularly Yorkshire, and more specifically, Sheffield-where I was born.
I love telling stories as much as i do writing them. I get a real buzz from vocal performance.
My voice is a deep baritone, but I’m lucky in having a wide vocal range that allows me to portray distinctly recognisable geographical characteristics. I have natural aptitude as a mimic, and can adapt to most English regional accents.
Everyone Loves A Yorkshire Accent. Don’t They?
It is widely perceived that a Yorkshire accent represents friendliness, trustworthiness and ‘down-to-earthness’. I have to admit to some misgivings that this may be just a little stereotypical. However, I am what I am. My moderate Sheffield brogue has never presented any barriers for me, and I am happy that the perception of it is positive.
Originality And Expression Feature In My Writing
I have been creating fictional and non-fictional writing for any years. I strive to be original, and to write with warmth and expression. Like most writers I’m a perfectionist, and I work hard to craft high quality writing that provides a genuine representation of how Sheffield folk actually speak.
Narration With A Northern Focus
I began narrating audiobooks while researching several northern writers of the 19th and early twentieth centuries who have fallen from popularity and are now largely forgotten. The project’s objective is to resurrect these literary artists through their written works.
